This is the second environmental case that has split the court 5–4 with all four women dissenting. We saw the same lineup last term in Ohio v. EPA. In both, Barrett sounds frustrated by the majority's contortion of a statute to hobble the EPA and help polluters. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/23p...

SCOTUS holds that the EPA *cannot* order cities to maintain acceptable water quality standards by limiting the discharge—usually sewage—that they dump into nearby bodies of water (like oceans and bays). The four women justices, dissenting, say that's ridiculous. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

It’s fascinating how, whenever far-right parties enjoy a surge, everyone is meant to be in awe of their ascent, but how - the moment a vaguely progressive alternative emerges - we are supposed to mock it. So many of us are so terrified of even a moment of optimism.

Curious if FAA folks are the fat that folks support being trimmed (i.e. more plane crashes)? How many air passengers and airline workers dead by day 101 is good?
