Trump is incapable of telling the truth. Almost everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie.

The cycles of hate only end when we refuse to carry them forward. We don’t honor cruelty by repeating it, and we don’t win anything by becoming what we opposed. The power lies in breaking that pattern, even when others never would.

There are ways to disagree without resorting to insults and dehumanization. I won’t pretend to feel sympathy for someone who made it clear people like me were unworthy of respect or dignity. But acknowledging that truth does not mean excusing what happened to him.
