❝ The U.S. model is broken,” he says bluntly.
In the United States, hospitals hit by ransomware are often treated as negligent culprits. Regulators fine them for HIPAA violations, lawyers file class-action suits and insurance rarely covers the fallout.

Google weather on my Android phone is demanding Precise Location. WHY?? It clearly is for no legitimate purpose. Despite our amazing 27 microclimates in Metro Vancouver no one needs my location down to the meter. This information grab has gone way too far for anyone to think this is OK or ethical.

You know who else benefits from alt text aside from the visually impaired? People like me with face blindness. I see lots of photos of people that I am supposed to recognize, but don't. If you haven't heard enough reasons yet, please add this to your list.

As an... *ahem* older person, I think video games need a "quick tutorial" mode. I often walk away from something fun for months if not years at a time and I need a quick refresher so I don't need to start over again. I don't want to learn all the keystrokes and buttons over the course of hours.

All these news stories here in BC talking about a new pipeline all seem to miss one key point: No one wants to build one.

Polls show people want one (hard disagree, thankfully we don't govern by polls... or do we?), PP will approve no matter what, Carney is a yes, Smith would condone gay […]

This Firefox mess is very upsetting. They've always had questionable leadership, but also played a very important role outside of just being "open."

Having been in tech for a fairly long time I have seen the destruction caused when open standards like HTML are taken over by a single dominant […]

Just got back from the 3rd Vancouver Goldeneyes home game and the ladies did it again, they won 2-1. 3-0 home record now (don't ask about the road.)

Certainly a rational thing a very stable genius would say. Nothing to see here.
President Trump, on social media, announces he’s ordering “A TOTAL AND COMPLETE BLOCKADE OF ALL SANCTIONED OIL TANKERS going into, and out of, Venezuela.”

How bad are Canadian hockey teams this year? Edmonton is excited and their "confidence is rising" looking forward to their third straight win. 3. Not 13. 3.

This is just a shockingly horribly written headline. "collision" with a child pedestrian!? How about "Child dies after being struck by an out of control truck"?

Listening to Béla Fleck's Rhapsody in Blue this morning (Thanks for the tip @jack_daniel !). It is a delightful rendition even if it does cause flashbacks to United's in-flight safety videos. https://www.discogs.com/release/29732212-B%C3%A9la-Fleck-Rhapsody-In-Blue
