The biggest difference being, LLM's are totally general. I'm using a coding assistant that can say, comprehend my existing video player app codebase and help me add a caching proxy that handles chunked and streaming downloads correctly while educating me on the difference. Just a few hours of work.

I've spent enough years in the industry to get what Judah is saying here. But I also know that none of those tools ever did what the LLM assisted coding does today.

The original definition was to pass the Turing Test. I'm old enough to even remember when people said computers beating the best human Chess players would be the test of intelligence. We've blown past all of those tests. Now the new goalposts is some ill-defined idea of "sentience". 🤷‍♂️

Do you guys use embeddings on the actual Augment code product? Or is it just grep/find/awk all the way down?
