Phew.

Struggled a bit to see this one.

1. Rxg8 Rxg8, 2. Rxg8 Kxh8 (as …Qxg8 drops the f6 pawn). Then 3. Qg4+ followed by 4. Qc8+, picking up the c7 or b7 pawns?

I got the Evo for Christmas and I love it. Played some 10+5, which is a little too quick sometimes - flagged in one game scrambling to promote - and also some longer games against the engine.

Would definitely be up for a classical game (especially as my OTB club now closed from the fire 👎🏻)

Community has been more important than ever in the last few days in this neck of the woods, and the chess club is part of that - and will no doubt continue to be, in its future incarnation and future home.

The 170+ strong club (with regular weekly attendance 50+) has met there for the last three years every Tuesday.

I was spoiled by Santa with a Chessnut Evo board! #chesspunks

Ne7+ looks pretty devastating…

I agree with this!

Nice - I have the convertible card tray - it adds zero functionality but it’s double decker!

Is it a big tournament?

Sounds like a road to madness, if you ask me

Great timing - I just decided to switch to Anki (from physical cards - too time consuming to make, and have been underusing them for study).

I got as far as downloading the app; will use these cards as inspiration ☺️

1…Qe5, you got it. Chris and I had the right plan - but the wrong execution.

Instructive reminder that the best chess moves do more than one thing at once!

That’s also what I played, before sauntering off to the restroom, confident I was going to win 😂

Only to return to 2. Be4!, attacking c2 and x-raying the b1 square, ruining the …Rb1+ plan. Kudos to my ~1100 opponent for finding it.

It’s hard for Black to progress from here, even after …Rb2

Wait, c2. Where’s the edit function on this thing.

Nxd5 is even better - same idea but picks up a pawn.

I didn’t see this with my own eyes, but the engine shows Nc4 as losing to …Qd4, when both of White’s Knights are hanging!

I might not have the move order right here - but Bxg5 and after either pawn takes or Knight takes, then R1c6?
