3/ My favorite engine running on-device is probably Midnight engine. It's rated around 3400 at full strength, but is much more aggressive than Stockfish. I typically cap analysis requests at around depth 15. However for play, depth 1 is probably the best choice.

I'm getting an analysis speed of around 20 Mn/s analyzing with Stockfish 17.1 on CPU. I'll have to benchmark the speed of Lc0 on my 3080 GPU, but it's also quite competitive.

I recently learned that “triple check” is impossible to reach in a regular chess game. “Discovered check” with two attackers occurs all the time, however a position like the one below will crash many UCI chess engines. Just try : rnbqk1nr/ppN2ppp/5N2/1B1p4/8/3P4/PPP2PPP/R1BQK2R b KQkq - 0 1 #chess
