SL's potential to host unique gameplay endures. Again, it would be REALLY cool to have a XCOM shoot out as a dolled up avatar. But the price of doing or hosting cool stuff on Secondlife often includes the cost of the sim, and I'm not about to spend money for the privilege of making games for SL.
