Her name was Nancy Carolyn. She died before I was born. She had never been vaccinated, and she contracted two childhood diseases at the same time. She was 4 yrs old. She is my family’s validation of the importance of immunizations.

I’m on the Tiny Porch. I can hear doves calling. My GF taught me to do dove calls with my cupped hands. I’ve been trying and trying to resurrect this skill. Woke up Carl the Cat. He’s giving me his WTF look & I have made myself lightheaded.

I’ve mentioned that my teacher once told us that “good and honorable” men had always saved the country when it teetered on the edge of falling. So far, I’m seeing more “good and honorable” women.

Once, I was 13 years old. Thirteen, and listening to a WWII vet teacher explain to a room full of 13-yr-olds why the USA, unlike other nations, had never had a military coup. It was because of our strong constitution, he said, and the brave, honorable men who stepped forward.
