So he stopped keeping track of time, closed his eyes tightly until— “I hope I’m not disturbing anything,” Mel whispered from across the room, standing casually by the doorway. She smiled, Jayce exhaled deeply. Then, with Leo still in his arms, he bolted forward, hugging her tight with one arm. She let out a surprised laugh, “Whoa, easy, Talis! We’re not even on a first-name basis yet!” Leo cooed. Jayce shushed her gently, smiling through exhaustion. “I kid, Jayce, I kid,” And Viktor, half-awake and sunken into the bed, saw everything.
