Last night, at the Texas Theatre in Dallas, Night Vale continued to be a weird part of our relationship.

Except, the next year an alarm went off on our phones. A calendar notification that said “Travel back in time.” Cecil had told the audience to set it for that night, at the theatre. We lost our anniversary in Night Vale, and then Night Vale returned it to us in a way only this town could.

And then later we realized neither of us had bothered to remember what day that was. Instead of doing all the work to go check we figured that since time didn’t work in Night Vale, we must have lost our anniversary there. We didn’t need it anyway, so we laughed and carried on.

Years ago, we went to our first Night Vale Live Show. During the drive we had a serious conversation about our relationship, and decided to call what we had been doing dating. Since we didn’t have a specific time when we started, we decided that the show's date would be our anniversary.
