I've noticed this problem across multiple fandoms but there's a concerning rise of people wanting stories to be safe/simple and anything that tries to be remotely complex or not black/white is considered "bad writing".

AniPoke fans only wants comfort food/battle shounen mechanics and can't handle being patient with flawed characters and story ambiguities.

Pokemon Horizons theory - I think the show might wrap up most of the Rakurium/Explorers plotline in Rising Again but might have one more new arc/adventure to finish the show.
