beautifully, yet terrifyingly, written. it was a hard read just because of all the emotional and detailed depictions of the terror that syrians faced. a must-read to know what’s going on in that part of the world.

this book is great but man is it a tough read… i should have picked up something more fun to read after the election results 😥

it feels strange to rate this 3 stars when i couldn’t put it down. when i closed the book for the final time i remember saying “that’s all?”. there’s an undeniable measure of beauty to it, but it ended up feeling a bit repetitive and the “twist” fell a bit flat for me. very intriguing.
