beautifully, yet terrifyingly, written. it was a hard read just because of all the emotional and detailed depictions of the terror that syrians faced. a must-read to know what’s going on in that part of the world.

it feels strange to rate this 3 stars when i couldn’t put it down. when i closed the book for the final time i remember saying “that’s all?”. there’s an undeniable measure of beauty to it, but it ended up feeling a bit repetitive and the “twist” fell a bit flat for me. very intriguing.

love a magic-filled faefolk story. cruel prince vibes, which i adore. i had some mixed feelings about the ending that nicked it a star. think i’m gonna have to check out the two other stories set in the same world.
