Thanks Peggy
Reading this makes me sad that our politicians and bureaucrats still cling onto an archaic mindset of the Yellow Peril from the East. Maybe it’s because I was not from China that I cannot understand how that industrial giant is a threat to the West.

these minds have been conditioned by their faith to allow them to be racist, misogynistic, and xenophobic and yet consider them as holy and dog abiding. They cannot see what they do is wrong.
Then there is the group who totally mistrust all institutions (apart from their church) - no easy fix.

In that MAGA group, there are the ignorant, uneducated ones but there are also those religious but deeply racist whose entire lives are determined by the words of the preacher or misinterpreted bible -flawed as it is. It is that surrender of their thinking that is so difficult to shift because 1/

Viewing this from outside Australia, the dismissal was not really much news.
Here in 77 with Fraser, we assumed that it was just good govt policy to have those Whitlam policies. Only much later did I learn of the divide, now a huge chasm between the 2 philosophies,if we can call the Libs having one

Quite a proportion of their wealth can be traced back to colonial times when opium and slave trading/owning were legal and these white suprematists made their fortunes. We know that most fortunes were made in the back of extremely low costs (slaves), a situation not easily replicated now

Clean breathable air (better than some in the West). With their surge in PV and wind, and storage, they will in turn drive their economy with lower costs and lower impact to the environment. Yet in the West, we (the sinophobes and conservatives IE US GOP) choose to highlight their imperfections

Yes, it should! But you know that the nay sayers will say that the Chinese area still building fossil fuel generators.
Being a realist and techno nerd, I’m aware that the Chinese need energy certainly (hence the new plants to replace aging ones). Their ‘ban’ on ICE vehicles have their cities

Just wondering if it’s a new phenomenon because for most boomers, we are usually first-in-family for university.
We only afforded uni because of Gough’s reform.

Another comment trail had someone saying that China is wilfully damaging landscapes with more solar and wind renewables.
It’s as if it’s ok for the West to damage the environment for more energy consumption but not China.
Interesting perspective when we know we need sustained energy sources
