An incredibly well-preserved sieve funnel from Neolithic Bietikow 🇩🇪 used for making cheese #NationalCheeseDay 🧀

Its location west of the Oder river suggests those living on the periphery of Linearbandkeramik society produced lots of dairy! 🏺

Gillian Lowndes' work transcended the boundaries of traditional ceramics. She pushed form and materials into radical new directions, and her creative foresight was deeply underappreciated in her lifetime

A Jeremy Steward slip and salt-glazed mug is #.clayfortoday

Rouletted and reformed, this lil guy is alive with movement. Next level chunning on the rim. Joyous!

Norah Braden was described as a "genius" during her time at the RCA.

From 1923, this is an early work, prior to her training at the Leach Pottery in St Ives

A stunning rounded vase from my favourite, Katharine Pleydell-Bouverie.
C. 1960, this is a particularly fine example from her later work

Another very sad recent passing is that of Gordon Baldwin, ceramic sculptor.

Inspired by a pebbly beach in north Wales, this one is 'Vessel from the Place of Stones'

Not a pot but no rules here

I'm going to attempt to do a pot of the day here, which I'm sure will last no more than a week before I forget.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of Peter Smith. He was an underappreciated genius and a kind and generous man. Here's a jug in his bold and unique style

Taking a break from another place. So have decided to be brave and put something on here.

I give you this 16th century watering can. Made for keeping the dust down on a rush or straw lined floor.

A reminder that old times were pretty hanging.
