Yea I was surprised when I initially read the novels but the authors made it work!
I think Tain was part of the storyline somewhere too but I can't be sure as it's been a while since I read them.

the Terok Nor trilogy of novels could be used as background too. a younger Nechayev was undercover during the Occupation in one of them. i'm sure they could a twenty something Natalia Nogulich lookalike to cast.
