Yeah but sporadic cases of bird flu over the past two years have reduced the number of birds we have in the first place. Egg production peaked in 2019. Hasn’t decreased drastically but definitely gone down a bit

We’re not talking enough about the bird flu outbreak affecting US poultry supply

This is not a stance on whether one should or shouldn’t be vegetarian - just a black bean-based lamentation.

I like that more fine dining restaurants are incorporating or going fully vegetarian/vegan. I hope it trickles through quickly.

At the same time it creates a crutch that a lot of places have adopted - why experiment with random plants when you could just slap an impossible patty on your regular burger and call it a day?

One of the imitation meat brand founders suggested that these imitations would be a “gateway” for staunch meat eaters to try something that doesn’t have the environmental impact of meat. And sure I agree that likely has happened.
