Might have posted this before, but the name of these Japanese cookies never fails to make me chortle, so here they are again, this time in a limited edition flavor😂

Final #wine of the night, and I've had enough in me to stop caring about nice photos ;)
Anyway, this 2003 M. Chapoutier Crozes-Hermitage would make me cry at a blind tasting: it was a very hot year, so it tastes more like Amarone than Syrah😅
It was delicious nonetheless!

Second bottle of the night: a Grenache from Roussillon: 2021 Clos del Rey L'Episcata.
There's definitely something wrong with both my head and my nose, because right after opening this #wine smelled to me almost exactly like my mum's chicken soup. No, I don't know either😂
It was still fantastic!

Celebrating nothing in particular at one of my favorite #wine bars tonight. Brought this bottle with me: a 2018 Suntory Iwadarehara Merlot.
Quite nice - not the best Japanese merlot I've had, but it's still pretty great!

Wife wanted to learn more about Rioja, so we opened a bottle of 2017 CVNE 'Imperial' Gran Reserva tonight. Very, very nice #wine indeed - vanilla, leather, blackberries, a bit of cedar, spices... Love it! We need to drink more Rioja in this house, methinks :)

Today's #wine is a wonderful thrice-fermented (!) blend from my favorite Serbian producer, Maurer Oszkar. A wonderful amber color, intensely aromatic, with palate of kumquat, dried apricots and candied orange. Still fantastic, still love it.

...aaand back to #wine :)
Tonight we're having a nice French Gamay, but not from Beaujolais: Les Libere Terres Farandole Mosaïque de Terroirs 2023. Still light and fresh, but with less strawberry and candy, and more leather and dust - delicious.
Nothing beats my favorite grape in my favorite glass!

One thing led to another, and I guess I'm now officially a collector of slightly tacky antique candle holders with grape motives on them :P

No plans for now to expand the collection beyond the two pieces I have, but hey, never say never...

An interesting little number tonight: sparkling sauv blanc from Emilia Romagna: Il Mio Sauvignon 2023 by Camillo Donati. Reminds me of a cider, with nice apple and yeast notes.Nice long finish too - it's quite lovely! Perfect for a summer evening.

Saw this antique candle holder and thought to myself, "am I sappy and old-fashioned enough to enjoy #wine by candlelight in 2025?" The answer was yes, so now it's mine - I'll have to get the old wax out of all the nooks and crannies, but I like it, even if it's a bit kitschy😊

Today's haul from one of my favorite bottle shops. Particularly excited about the 100% Steuben saignee from Aomori Prefecture in Japan (turns out you can squeeze blood from a Steuben! ;)), the sauv blanc sparkling from Emilia Romagna and my first bottle by Tony Bornard (love his dad's work).

Bottle number 2, this time selected by me: 2023 Seba bianco-2 by one of my favorite winemakers, Votano Wine from Nagano Prefecture, Japan. 77% Kai Blanc, 23% Sauvignon Blanc. Lady Grey tea in wine form - even the color is similar :) I love it to bits, wish it wasn't so difficult to get...

My wife felt like having some chardonnay, so we're doing our ABCs tonight ;)
2023 Santa Barbara County Chardonnay by Au Bon Climat - unapologetically full, oaky and creamy. The way it coats your mouth is almost... oily? Not my preference exactly, but wife loved it, so it's all good :)

Needed a little pick-me-up tonight, so decided to open some #wine from Sardegna: a 2021 Pusole Casesparse. 90% Cannonau, 10% Monica, intense, aromatic and delicious - just what I needed!

I am so easily influenced... Read about cool kids drinking #wine a few days ago and suddenly I'm also opening a bottle of Gravner Ribolla, this one from 2014 though. I blame @jamiegoode.bsky.social - it's all his fault ;)
Oh, the wine is excellent btw. Duh😜

Today's dinner #wine is a delicious and beautiful (look at that color!) Alsatian orange: 2023 Au Dessus des Nuages Naturel Orange by Hebinger. A blend of Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and Riesling. Reminiscent of fruit tea, with tannins similar to tea catechins. Love it!

Polish #wine bottle number 2: an off-dry Zweigelt from the Zielona Góra region. Intense cherries and blackcurrant, 13% - quite nice!

Tonight, my wife and I are enjoying some Polish #wine (a delicious cold climate Chardonnay) in the only Polish restaurant in Tokyo. Definitely will be back!

Today's #wine is a yummy Santorini field blend: 2023 Aα by Sigalas. Fresh, lemony, zesty notes backed with nice minerality. Perfect with fish!

A nice bottle of light Ardèche red #wine with dinner tonight: Le Raisin et l'Ange Fable 2023. 60% Syrah, 40% Grenache Noir, using carbonic maceration. Perfect on a hot summer night, enjoying it a lot!
