Airlines could let status seekers donate their milage flights to those in need. Emergencies, military, teachers...whomever.
Passengers get their status, someone in need gets a flight, AND the airline makes their money.

I understand wanting the perks that come with airline status. I've had it.

Watching people pay full price to random places just for the status miles while scientists scream into the void about climate change is... exasperating.
