Well, that is what I assumed the general belief was among Jews--you don't have to be Jewish to be a righteous God-fearer. But apparently a lot this rabbi's followers take ferocious umbrage at that idea.

Yup. What you see as smugness was in fact me just taking it for granted that Jews believe there is only one God who cares about all people. Again, I apologize for making that generalization.

We have our disagreements to be sure.I like to think the God of the tanakh knows when people are trying their best to obey his commandments. But, as another Jew on this thread screamed at me, God only cares about you if you "appease" him with the right rituals. His words.
