The annual Honk Festival in Davis Square in Somerville is a great example of placemaking, driven by a community and supported by city government. This is School of Honk, (who accept all who want to join in) performing in Seven Hills Park in Davis Square.

With the big holiday weekend approaching, public parks see peaks in grilling and cooking. One of the challenges is proper disposal of used charcoal. This disposal bin in Helsinki, Finland is a great example of how to handle things that could cause spot fires in parks.

We did some rock work in the snow on Saturday. Actually, we worked for about an hour and then did a hike. It was really beautiful out in the Middlesex Fells Reservation.
