I think that's what a resignation is ... I don't work for you anymore.

I have never, ever, thought this check in thing was an issue. The cost of the trip? Yes, that's nuts if you're trying to cut down on traffic. The cost of parking at the airport? It's criminal. But checking bags at Union Station, why would they?

He has no idea how capitalism works.

he has no understanding of capitalism and how money works when there isn't someone's thumb on the scale.

If I were in the US, I wouldn't want to take on the headache of taking over the healthcare system in Greenland, I wouldn't want to take on the headache of fixing the infrastructure and food needs of Cuba. Who wants that pain in the butt. The US can't run its own shit.

Wait, "now" he looks like an idiot?

Mother of Christo, Powell? He's too boring to steal. The Trump corruption never stops.

He also doesn't understand capitalism. Blocking free exchange/sale of foods (willing seller, willing buyer) in home sales and meddling in the lender/borrower relationship between credit card issuers and willing credit card borrowers. Can't have it both ways. He's blocking capitalism

What the hell is happening to the US. This is stuff from dystopian sci-fy movies or Nazi Germany.

Telling banks what interest rates to charge borrowers. Telling oil companies where to drill and how much to produce. Banning the sale of property to corporations (willing sellers/willing buyers) ... He doesn't understand capitalism. When countries take over companies, they are socialist.

This viscous oil is also a bitch to refine.
January 7, 2026 at 1:21 AM
The whole oil thing is questionable. Oil's prices are low, OPEC+ is talking about pumping more, the world is awash in oil. Will American companies even be interested?

Trump Wants to Unlock Venezuela’s Oil Reserves. A Huge Challenge Awaits.
The president wants to put Venezuela’s viscous crude into play. The problem is the world doesn’t have much appetite for more oil.

I noticed it immediately, something's wrong.

I live in Ecuador. I'm always so disappointed when something happens in South America, the US media reports from Mexico City, Rio, or Bogota. Airfare is cheap, get your feet on the ground. Former reporter, here. US Coverage of S. America is poor.

As we said at the bar today ... say what you will about this, it sure went according to plan. As in, say what you want about Mussolini, the trains ran on time. This operation did do what it was supposed to without eff ups. That's rare. (nope, not endorsing it, just saying m-fer worked as planned)

I'm not sure big oil wants this supply. We're down around $57 a barrel, hard to make a profit in Texas at that. Do we want more oil on the market, or does big oil just want to lock it up and keep it off the market, the DeBeers method? Dunno.

Hmm, I invested year-end dividends in a defense/aerospace ETF on Friday, the bomb and gun makers. I had no idea what was going to happen. Curious to see what it does on Monday, predictions?

I'm sure this won't turn out like Korea, or Vietnam, or Nicaragua, or Iraq, or Afghanistan ... right?

Also, is that FIFA Peace Prize in jeopardy?
January 4, 2026 at 12:15 AM
You think FIFA will take back its peace prize
