I’ve come to hate that word SO much.

Also, apart from the bad politics, the comedy is weak. Remember Diamond Joe? That was gold! And they gave it all up.

No one will remember how this shutdown ended in a few months, just like no one remembers how the last one got avoided a few months ago. I frequently forget about it, and I’m on here way too much!

The only thing that people are going to care about is that all this bad stuff is happening under a Republican administration. They’re not parsing out arcane senate procedure to figure out whose fault it ACTUALLY is.
November 10, 2025 at 4:39 AM
The thing that people are going to remember is that the shutdown happened under a Republican trifecta. That’s it. No voter is going into 2026 thinking about arcane senate procedure. I don’t think most people even remember the previous shutdown fight just 8 months ago! A year is a LIFETIME.

Look, say why you want about Republicans, but at least they know to ALWAYS BLAME THE OPPOSITION.
November 10, 2025 at 3:43 AM
I don’t even particularly like Chuck Schumer all that much, but people’s obsession with him is borderline creepy. Like, seek help.
November 10, 2025 at 3:38 AM
Begging people on here to act like grown ups.
November 10, 2025 at 3:35 AM
Like, maybe this was a bad deal, but also: how do you, as a Democrat, negotiate with insane people like this? People who seem more than happy to keep the government closed indefinitely and starve millions or people?
November 10, 2025 at 2:29 AM
2026 is about people voting AGAINST Republicans, not FOR Democrats. I don’t think anything Democrats do or don’t do between now and next November is going to change that.

It’ll be like Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery, but instead of the “winner” being stoned by everyone else, they’re made Speaker.

The main reason he might keep the job is that nobody else wants it.

I also love that Tolkien based Treebeard’s voice off Lewis’s vocal tics lol

Like, I don’t imagine they’re running day to day management or anything.
October 30, 2025 at 5:14 PM
I thought they were owners, not management? At least, the link seems to refer to them as owners.

“If Dems win in 26/28, it will have less to do with any specific platform and more to do with being the ‘not-Republican’ Party” remains an unpopular, yet probably correct assumption.
October 27, 2025 at 6:34 PM
You think he might run for an open senate seat eventually?
October 24, 2025 at 4:58 PM
Would be nice if we had a podcast for actual liberals instead of reactionary douchebags who’ve gotten to play life on easy mode because they hitched their wagon to a generationally talented candidate.
October 22, 2025 at 2:39 AM
I mean, yeah! I definitely think Bernie is WAY better than Trump, but they’ve both empowered a lot of people who were hiding their assholeness due to social stigma to let their asshole flags fly.
October 22, 2025 at 2:24 AM
It’s genuinely bad that the Left in this country chose this whiny, unpleasant asshole as the guy they wanted to emulate.
October 22, 2025 at 2:13 AM
The only benefit would’ve been him being seen as a shitty president instead of the sinless martyr all his fans see him as now.

The “reminds me of my grandson” archetype.
