I wonder if a lot of the side effects would have happened if a child got sick anyway—i.e., if they got a small bug at that age, would that cause the same thing because it’s a stress on the immune system? I would argue that doesn’t justify holding back, because it’s likely to happen w/ or w/o a vacc🤷🏼♀️

I bought one for my husband and he loves it. When he’s done he hands it off to me, so we both get to enjoy!

Their stance also hampered the ability of Novavax to launch their new Covid vaccine. Novavax Med Info said to expect it “late September” and still it’s crickets. For those of us with unwanted side effects from mRNA vaccines that don’t happen with Novavax and need a booster, we’re SOL.

This lack of a paycheck happens to EVERY gov’t employee INCLUDING MILITARY where special circumstances aren’t made. They keep working. Then they get paid back for that time when the shutdown ends. That’s why USAA offers free 0% loans to service members when a shutdown happens.

University PhD programs keep a close eye on students—they must show progress at least 2-4xs per year, be publishing, and have an end game. Students who do not make good progress or have no reason to be sticking around get kicked out. Research dollars are hard-won, no one is going to keep a loafer.

You can’t make big discoveries if you only have 4 years to do all of your masters work, research work AND publish to meet requirements. Military who are accepted into a PhD program are required to have a master’s done AND they pick from a list of “sure bet” questions.

I took only 2 weeks off total per year, working 12 hour weekdays and working most weekends. I was lucky that my thesis worked and only required doing a couple experiments over once, but my experience was not the norm. Plus most students must publish at least 3 papers, and the pubs process is SLOW

This would drastically change how science is done, making people stick to “sure bet” research questions rather than actually investigating something new. I finished in 4 because I started my thesis research in my second semester with a topic that luckily did not require any trial and error.

In my state (Nv) CVS has stopped COVID vaccs, and Albertsons (Sav-On) doesn’t have supply. Smiths has Pfizer. All because of the labeling issues. I have yet to find a place that is offering Novavax (the one I need).

CVS in my state (Nv) has halted all covid injections, and two other pharmacies do not have supply. I’m immunocompromised and need my booster. The CVS pharmacy actually advised me to seek care in another state. This didn’t have to happen.

This is a PR catch-22. People distrust vaccines, so fighting in the open doesn’t look great, but not fighting is considered ‘cowardly’. Moderna and Pfizer are the largest mRNA vaccine makers, but a lot of small companies are working on cancer solutions too.

How else would you identify expertise beyond years experience (which is not a quality metric)?

These metrics are used beyond academia, as it shows they are key opinion leaders and experts in their field, and allows them to show work. The only metrics for public servants are years of experience, which does not demonstrate competence. It’s not the only metric, but it is useful nonetheless.
