it feels weird to have to explain this, but it was about the video, not the song. Everybody thought he was a black guy. Until rickrolling, most people hadn't seen the video and assumed the same thing. The video was made very quickly without much planning and Rick himself says he looks ridiculous.

right. that's the problem. these homes were constructed on bargain basement land, even for its time. The likelyhood anything similar will be built is zero. My concern is they will try to maximize returns by building those shitty apartments we see everywhere

yeah that's kind of my point, sorry I said it in a confusing way. the houses that were destroyed were nice, but were essentially cookie cutter houses built on farmland at the time they were, well, built. Which is the relevant part now. New construction will not have the luxury of cheap land.
