We delivered a petition signed by more than 15,500 people — a powerful message to save the much-loved palliative care beds at Arthur Rank Hospice.

Everyone deserves compassion, dignity, and peace at the end of their lives. We must not let a funding failure take that away.

We’re calling on the Government to restore the £829,000 in lost funding, secure sustainable long-term support for hospices, and ensure everyone can access excellent end-of-life care.

This is part of the Liberal Democrats’ national campaign calling for urgent government action to protect vital hospice services. We were also joined by Helen Morgan MP, our Health Spokesperson, and Councillor Cheney Payne, the Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Cambridge.

Together with my fellow Cambridgeshire Lib Dem MPs Pippa Heylings and Ian Sollom MP, and local residents Valerie, Rick and Vivien, Lisa and I handed in a petition to the Prime Minister signed by more than 15,500 people calling on the Government to save hospice beds at Arthur Rank.
