Storm Amy caused many cancellations in UK/ Ireland/Norway on International #parkrun Day yesterday, meaning global attendance was <300k for the first time since January. Following German Unity Day on Friday, Austria saw a new national record yesterday, and Germany a new Saturday high.

parkrun Germany held their extra Special Day parkruns this morning (German Unity Day), with a large number of international visitors in attendance, and set a new national record, with over 5,000 finishers on a single day for the first time. Friday is still the rarest parkrunday (just 14 times ever).

Yesterday saw a new national #parkrun attendance record for Italy, while Denmark set a new record for a Saturday, equalling their overall record of 1,441 finishers set on Constitution Day in June 2023.

It was also a record for parkrun USA (again for the second Saturday in a row), and the second-highest turnout for parkrun UK (whose top 10 days have all either been in late April, May or August). 2/2

parkrun USA saw another new record turnout (their 5th in the last 3 months). The new Brooklyn Bridge parkrun proved to be a huge draw - 536 finishers was over 10% of national total, 2nd highest ever seen at a single event, and largest inaugural US attendance by some margin. 2/2

There were new national records for Singapore (yesterday was Singapore National Day, which is usually an extra, non-Saturday parkrunday), Finland and Germany.

The Netherlands saw their 200,000th finish, which means that over a billion metres have now been run, jogged or walked since the first Dutch parkrun in 2020. 2/2
