I think it might be a Japanese custom to wait several days after someone has passed before announcing their death, at least for well-known people. They did the same thing when Akira Toriyama passed away. Probably gives the family time to grieve and plan arrangements.

Keep a handheld vacuum and a piece of thin mesh fabric like pantihose nylon nearby. If you lose a piece, put the mesh over the end of the vacuum and vacuum around. The vacuum will suck up the part and the fabric will keep the piece from being sucked in.
