It was a delight to hang out with my sister-in-law Jean and to hear my brother Michael and his fellow singers in Cerddorion Vocal Ensemble’s magnificent performance of works by Brahms, Poulenc, Rheinberger and four modern composers at their concert Sunday afternoon in Manhattan.

I greatly enjoyed The Time Is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure, on view at the Philadelphia Museum of Art through February 5. The exhibit showcases the work of Black British and American artists focusing on the Black figure, long absent or marginalized in Western art.

If you love top quality vocal music and are in New York this Sunday, be sure to attend Cerddorion Vocal Ensemble's concert at 3 pm. NYT said of a previous concert, “The 28-member group moved from 16th-century Spain to 21st-century North America with passion and discipline.” Excellent group.
