Thank you! I’m over the moon with it – just brilliant in every way. Just wish I had the means to buy out the finance and get to modding it…

Weeks after buying my MX-5, Wales, convoying with a bunch of mates. Got to a particularly twisty bit of road and hit my first ever (successful) heel-toe downshift without even thinking about it. Not sure I’ve been so immersed in a drive before – just goes to show what a great car can do!

Suboptimal indeed. I keep telling myself that it’s better the devil I know, though!

Cheers mate! It’s up with Fettle & Finesse at the mo, going to collect it (and formulate a plan) tomorrow. All really comes down to the cost – sills, rear beam and a full suspension refresh are probably the bigguns, and I can’t imagine that’s cheap

And yes, I was looking at MX-5s previously. Until I was reminded I can’t take my nephew (who’s 3 and utterly car mad) out in one. Oops

Cheers for sharing! Would really appreciate you sharing a link to my story too - I've been agonising over it since long before the new year, haha. Been very interesting to see the response, mixed as it's been... www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new...

Blimey, 6’7 in a Lupo! Remarkable little cars, really
January 19, 2025 at 2:13 PM
That’s interesting – wouldn’t have expected a Lupo to fit you better!

Annoyingly, this Clio hasn’t worked out (scheduling conflicts mean it’ll almost certainly have sold before I can see it, and I’m not keen on paying a non-refundable deposit). Shame to let it pass, but that’s life 😅

Could always look for one with the RS Cup wheel?

I'm hoping they work for the... wider gentleman. Driving position's a key reason I'm most likely getting rid of the Panda (left knee cramps up after about 45min) and these aren't meant to be much better 😬

Missed you'd bought this, what a thing! Congrats
January 16, 2025 at 9:04 PM
Doesn't it just? I'm hoping and praying that nobody snipes it out from under me. Don't think there's anything else as good as that one for the money -- just hoping my mechanic mate agrees!
January 16, 2025 at 9:02 PM
Cheaper (just) to insure, quicker and parts look to be more plentiful, so it's a rational choice (well, ish). I'll desperately miss the Panda if I move on -- I love it -- but it's in need of work before I'd be really happy, so maybe the best thing to do is move on and let someone else love it too

(Their cars) are always so reasonably priced, I should say
January 16, 2025 at 8:08 PM
It’s ridiculous – and it’s always so well priced, too. I’m getting the same excitement over this blooming Clio as I did the Panda before I bought it, so I’m fairly dead set on it!!! Just hope nobody gets there first 🤞
