Nordic Noir at the British Museum is a wonderful survey of print and drawing - very diverse - I can't believe I live in a country where such a brilliantly curated show is free

Good to then go to a session from small independent publishers on how they raise money in really tough news markets - still reliant on foundations/philanthropy but some bright ideas about to build capacity, connect with audiences and find new revenue streams

Polite question. Why, of all artistic genres, do movie makers insist on ruining the opening of their product with endless credits and production logos? What is the point? It doesn't build anticipation or improve brand recognition. New broadcasters (YT) don't do it. So why?

I wrote a tiny blog based on a bit of what I said at the Athens iMEdD International Journalism Forum last week. Links in the piece to a recording of the whole session 'Navigating the age of doubt' and the rest of the conference blogs.lse.ac.uk/polis/2025/0...

People's responses to Trump are more nuanced and shifting. I can't believe there isn't increased push back against the madness. But this comment on the UK Telegraph is interesting. His rhetoric makes sense as style as much as ideology

BBC doing more child suffering porn: they would never show western children on the verge of death like this - close up, lingering filming. Clearly it's a humanitarian crisis and the Taliban could solve it tomorrow but that's barely mentioned @yogital.bsky.social#afghanistan

Ok. Dreadful performance and result but always good to meet lovely people from outside London. Mackems were all very friendly. And England can be beautiful when you ignore the football ⚒️

Avice Caro at old St Pancras church was lovely tonight. She has an amazingly clear and strong voice. The band and songs pretty good, too. Gothic in a gentle way

The joy of change was a surprising theme of the speakers at my LSE journalism Summer School. Journalists of all ages, experience, background and genres had one thing in common - they all love their work and embrace opportunities offered by media change despite the slog and stress

Fascinating to see how the BBC's main studio for the Euro 2025 tournament in Switzerland is actually a virtual lake-side cabin with Mountain Views in Salford www.tvbeurope.com/virtual-prod...

This company makes lovely soaps etc. They are all vegan. Yet, it's chosen a brand name that evokes a past crafty age when candles and soaps were made of....beef and mutton fat. 'Tallow' is 100% animal fat. The power of the past, I guess, to transform the present...I also like 'elevating laundry'
