We are all guilty of the sin of not caring for those around us, and if we’re not hearing that sermon as a wakeup call for each of us, we’re missing the point. May God have mercy on us all, as we strive to show mercy to those who most need it.

Bp. Budde spoke directly to one with great power who needed to hear that some of those he represents are scared. But she did so by preaching the Gospel.

But if we’re not using our power, our voice in the ways we still have it to speak in support of those whose voices need to be heard, then we are wasting our time.

He felt he had an obligation to use that voice in support of those who would not be heard. A voice to the voiceless.

The Episcopal Church does not have the power we once had – mostly for the good, I’d say.

He had just released a statement about immigration in the UK, and was asked to explain it. Before he left, he shared with us that he had hesitated to speak up, but realized that in England, the public still listens to Church of England leaders

I'm pretty sure I amended the canons last night, undoubtedly in some horrific way that would break the church.

This year, we have a young adult as a deputy, so we did not need to use the special provision. But! She started at the last convention as our youth alternate, and wanted to come back as a full deputy. Our deputation has been enriched by her presence. Every diocese can do this!
