Writes a lot of code, sometimes it even works. May or may not actually exist.

(insert useful info here)

Writing is not one of my skills.

Because I have to keep the "it runs on anything that's on my desk" joke going...

Oh, looks like I got a display with this packaging!

(Because I definitely needed more random displays...)
November 29, 2025 at 6:34 PM
It gets better 😆
November 29, 2025 at 6:03 PM
Something tells me I'm going to need to improve the wiring...
November 29, 2025 at 6:00 PM
🤔 On this display I can disable the text mode hack (forcing char width to 8 instead of 9)
November 29, 2025 at 4:58 PM
Well, I got red and green...

(Also, better view of the thing now that I'm not fighting the lighting)

Not having the breakout did not stop me for long 😆

(Now I just need to dig up enough jumper wires to connect the rest of the colour bits)
November 28, 2025 at 10:55 PM
After the overcomplicated disk setup, I now have an overcomplicated display!

(I don't have the "raw" breakout for this one)

Yesterday I thought I would quickly enable ATAPI support in my Pico builds, should be easy because it already works...

Of course, windows then immediately blue screened.

Much debugging and one deleted line later...
November 28, 2025 at 1:57 PM
There's a project idea in here somewhere 🤔
November 27, 2025 at 11:08 AM
With the power of sleep_us(10) I managed to boot windows from a hard drive... In a really overcomplicated way 😆
November 26, 2025 at 11:05 PM
Apparently disk corruption is where I was going, whoops.
November 26, 2025 at 7:12 PM
Ooh, got some post...

(...and typed this on it)
November 26, 2025 at 3:16 PM
🤔 Where could I be going with this...
November 26, 2025 at 12:51 PM
This'll definitely solve my SD card storage problems! 😆
November 25, 2025 at 8:01 PM
Now with less mess (and risk of pulling the whole thing off the desk)!

Also without CD drive again...
November 25, 2025 at 12:19 PM
Managed to run two drives at once by powering the thing from a pi 5 PSU.

(The huge mess gets messier 😆)
November 24, 2025 at 9:04 PM
Ah yes, the print I forgot to watch for two hours had to do this...

(Based on some of the parts stuck to it, it failed really early as well)
November 24, 2025 at 7:20 PM
By copying a bunch of code from what the board was originally supposed to do I can easily make it do USB storage... not that a hard disk over USB 1.1 is going to have great performance 😆
November 23, 2025 at 2:45 PM
Wow, the aliexpress board clones never end...

(They seem to really hate rounded corners though)
November 22, 2025 at 8:54 PM
Ah yes, the GBA cart reader that swapped cartridges for hard drives...

(I'm surprised that I correctly remembered where this was)
November 21, 2025 at 8:42 PM
Not sure these two could be much more different...
November 21, 2025 at 1:54 PM
I'm going to say it's mostly working...

(Probably not a bug in the new code at least)
November 21, 2025 at 1:16 PM
Things are sending and receiving... 🤔
November 21, 2025 at 12:35 PM
Well, I got it to open the menu without crashing. Maybe tomorrow it'll work.

(I also seem to have found a keyboard mapping bug...)
