And, if I may, isn’t the failed effort by the EU to setup an alternative to SWIFT a proof point that overcoming US hegemony will be extremely difficult if not impossible?

Thanks for considering these questions and for your dazzlingly brilliant work.

some version of it at scale? Likewise, the UK — and many of our NATO allies — cannot service its attack helicopters and planes without US support. Is it conceivable they can really unplug from all that?

without meaningful pushback later on. But I wonder whether you think it is, in fact, actually possible for middle powers to go it alone. The US technology sector is so much more dominant than its peers; is it really conceivable that other countries will be able to both block US tech and reproduce

One question I did have, however, that I don’t think got much air time was the “so what?” of the Carney speech. That is, I agree with your argument that the more the US uses its leverage over the platforms it dominates, the less likely it is that it will be able to wield the same kind of power

@hillaryclinton.bsky.social this was a really wonderful conversation between you and Secretary Pompeo. It was nice to hear how much you two agreed — and it was very interesting to see your areas of divergence teased out. Thank you!

both educating your audience and providing just so many details and responses to the things he said. I am a regular listener, and a big fan, but I must say, you cannot just leave the Khalil conversation alone without at least providing some pushback. It does your audience a tremendous disservice.
