Thoughts on product, tech, design, and AI. Currently @Asana, Enterprise.
Defiantly use a combination of ChatGPT, claude, deepseek to brainstorm and for content revision. But I was more referring to integrating AI into the product through (smart suggestions? Chat? Etc)

I’m not saying you did, I’m calling out that talking to experts IS a risk-reducing practice. Your emphasis on “for some reason” implies that you disagree, or am I misinterpreting that?

Getting expert advice (externally or internally) is pretty a useful time-saving tool. Products are built on heuristics, and while they are not always valid, they work most of the time.

Great topic. However I don’t fully agree with this:

> the singular, bad vision… find a subject matter expert who will tell you their opinion on what to build, and then build that. This is, for some reason, understood as a risk-reducing practice.

To be fair, I think the answer depends on the kind of company, how they value design, and where they are in their product evolution. Sometimes design is supplemental to the main product, sometimes it’s the main driver.

Many ethnic names (just google it) are also ambiguous, which I try to use to be more inclusive

…of belonging. I feel the most connected to friends when I’m in person, whether it’s at a dinner or over coffee. The lack of constant stimulation adds necessary constraints on your attention, and the slower pace affords some calm.

Great post. I especially agree with the enshittification (new word for me) of apps over time due to the company’s goal of basically making more money. I unfortunately don’t have a direct answer to “how can we engage online in a more human way” but I think the answer lies in community and a sense…

I definitely feel a sense of looming pressure from this administration so I feel you. I’m hopeful MSFT continues to value a11y and inclusivity though, I feel like they have been a strong advocate for a long time
