Secular parents often fear religious schooling, but parental influence is much stronger. My three kids attended a conservative evangelical high school, yet with freedom to think critically, exposure to irrationality became an inoculation when paired with evidence- and reason-based thought at home.

Dr. Stephen Watkins reflects that in 1962, as a Conservative, he supported high taxes on the wealthy, Keynesian growth, and reducing inequality. Over 60 years, without shifting his own opinion, the political spectrum shifted, moving him from centre-right to hard left.
