Yeah, my immediate reaction even as someone not religious was, “isn’t that the _definition_ of blasphemy?”

Followed by starting to ask myself, “was there no one with even a passing understanding of how insulting this would be to someone of faith?”

And finally recognizing that no, there wasn’t 🤦‍♂️

It’s so hard because of judge coverage issues, but I do wish there were ways to change the rule structure to disincentivize things like this.

Removing draws is one piece, I know other TCGs have started to do that. But it doesn’t address concessions. Fixing that is probably more cultural though.

I’m not trying to quote the rule book, I’m trying to point out the fallacy of saying “the rules should be changed so there’s a clear path of how to break the rules.”

I do also happen to think it’s bad that there’s a way to skirt the rules and collude “legally”, but that’s a separate discussion.

The point though is that there can’t be a system in the rules to figure out how to properly break the rules.

The only foolproof system to avoid getting DQ’d for Bribery & Wagering or Improperly Determining a Winner is to play games of Magic to determine the outcome.

That sounds an awful lot like trying to collude to determine a match result, which is explicitly what the rule exists to prevent.

What exactly is “the intended result” in this context?

How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...

There’s no filibuster in the House, so they only need a simple majority to pass their half—which the republicans have.

Also, no matter your thoughts on whether he should have endorsed, in what world is “chooses not to endorse a candidate from his own party” somehow an abdication of his responsibility to the Constitution?

Very interesting, I hadn't heard of Kagi! I may need to give that a try, but even if I ultimately don't switch, I _really_ appreciate their approach to building software after reading through their docs.

And as competitive players, it's also our responsability to train so we can make good plays without spending hours on them. I'm currently thinking about ways to train to process the most complex turns faster, and I just need to be able to trust that my opponents will be held to the same standard.
