4/7 The increase in both innovation and transmission boosts cumulative knowledge. This coevolution also creates variation among families : some accumulate knowledge through innovation and teaching, while others rely more on oblique learning, avoiding teaching costs but acquiring less knowledge.

1/7 Cumulative culture/knowledge occurs when information builds up across generations through a combination of innovation and transmission. In our new paper, we investigate the role of teaching and its coevolution with learning in this process.
