It's hard not to draw comparisons between Cory Booker's Senate speech, ongoing as of this writing, and that of the fictional Jefferson Smith, as indelibly played by Jimmy Stewart. In the Frank Capra film MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON, the criminality is confined to one nameless western state.
