Let’s be real about why some Americans are ok with mass firings from federal workers…they are hoping they get their jobs! According to Project 2025, after the federal workforce is decimated they will install loyalists. Some are excited to see the job opening because they think they got next.

I’m starting to think this traumatized the federal workforce thing is going to backfire hard! These are some of the smartest most competent people in the country who were previously low risk. Now they’ve all been given nothing to lose. That’s the perfect backstory for revolutionaries!

It’s so amazing that the same people upset about the 1619 Project exposing that racism and exploitation are the foundational principles of America are now trying to resegregate the country and scrub all public references to Black excellence. Just say you want to be exhibit A!

The Trump inauguration feels like the marriage of Isabella and Ferdinand of Spain. Though historians point to this as the starting point of modern western history through the unification of Spain it was a lesson in white identity politics.

In 2023, I helped host Dr. Julius Garvey, son of Marcus Garvey, at the Thurgood Marshall Civil Rights Center at Howard Law. I helped compose advocacy letters to support his father’s pardon. Today’s pardon is such an overdue victory. I wish the family peace and power as they continue his legacy!
