It has definitely been a bit weird to have the same group who came at me for a ‘controversial’ tweet I once made that said “it should have ended at sandy hook” now try to act like I am pro shootings. That said, can’t deny some people ARE celebrating it, I’m just really not one of them.

This is also totally false, imo. Bluesky will always struggle with growth because it’s functionally not as addictive as other social media platforms - it doesn’t reward the most outrageous opinions, it doesn’t push you into a feed of auto-play videos, and it has an extensive block function.

This is the equivalent of saying “if the guy was a leftist, you’d be making jokes all over FOX news, asking for ‘patriots’ to post bail for the murderer, and expecting Trump to pardon him.” There’s no moral high-ground here.

Anyway, for internal-facing game writing I highly recommend writing things you think/hope your team will enjoy, not everyone else. Pleasing ‘everyone else’ is not only impossible, but also ~extremely boring~!

Once I feel like I understood everything, going back about 1,000 years before the beginning of our game, I turned it into a 6,000~ word short story for the rest of the team (two people lol) to hopefully understand.
I felt like I was losing my mind working on this. It was very fun!

Then I had to pull on various threads to answer my own questions (‘why did this person do this?’ ‘how did this thing start?’) which became its own insane mess of pages that I had to number (in a notebook) so that I could actually link them together, since it was so out of order. 60 pages!

Finally submitted the giant lore doc that I’d been working on for @layersdeep.bsky.social to the rest of the team this morning. It started out as 31 scrappy pages in a notebook, featuring terrible maps (that will never be in the game lol) just so that I could map out game events in a logical way.
