Chaperones. Guide people. Assemble nucleosomes. Fold proteins. Tweeting as a structural biochemist with a love for chaperones and chromatin. Let's bring some magenta to the blue.

Lab’s first paper is out!! We show the first structures of #Asgard #chromatin by #cryo-EM 🧬❄️
Asgard histones form closed and open hypernucleosomes. Closed are conserved across #Archaea, while open resemble eukaryotic H3–H4 octasomes and are Asgard-specific. More here: www.cell.com/molecular-ce...

🚀 Ordering lab supplies just got way easier in our lab.
We built a workflow (github.com/farnunglab/N...) where tapping an NFC tag on a reagent bottle automatically triggers an order request in Quartzy. No more scribbling notes or hunting for a computer. Here’s how 👇

During my cool down after a run, passed by 2 girls selling lemonade. I didn't have money with me. So I ran home quickly, grabbed some money, ran back, and bought their lemonade. They were all smiles and happy. There's nothing more fulfilling than seeing kids smiling and happy.

Chromatin remodelers engage with transcription factors through β-catenin. A new story from @hodgeshc.bsky.social and @cermakova.bsky.social in Mol Cell reveals a key role for intrinsically disordered regions. Congratulations! We're really happy to help out.
How do chromatin remodelers use #IDRs to find TF binding partners? In our new Molecular Cell paper, we show that β-catenin is an adaptor that links SWI/SNF (cBAF) subunit ARID1A with binding partners via IDR-domain interactions.

Submitted a paper to journal X. Shortly after received an email with paper submission confirmation to journal Y. 🤔 First confused, then realized my collaborators submitted their paper with me on it at the same time. All good. 😅

As the new work week has started and people might be going from a safe place of comfort and happiness to a work place and appointments that might feel overwhelming and unsettling, think of a mantra that can help everyone:

“In a world where you can be anything, be kind.”

To all the PIs, supervisors, superiors, bosses, in academia or anywhere:

If you do not agree with something that your student, PhD, postdoc, or employee did, e.g. discussing a possible collaboration without your knowledge, and you threaten by saying:

I've been a huge fan of yoga for nearly 10 years. Did my first pilates today. It's pretty good too.
