of course these days we know most archaeologists and tomb robbers have died of malaria ridden mosquito bites, infections, and breathing in toxic fungal spores

but even still these ancient servants of the gods will capture our imaginations.

these tombs were often inscribed with warnings of curses that will be brought down upon trespassers, robbers, and any who would desecrate those tombs. often warnings of judgement brought down by the chosen god of the Pharaoh or even vengeance from beyond the grave by the pharaoh themselves.

As a symbol of status and a ritual to ensure a more comfortable afterlife their bodies were preserved through mummification in elaborate tombs with their worldly possessions.
