Mostly comics and music
As someone with no history and very little knowledge of older alt manga, Garo, or Garo-adjacent mangaka, I’ve found the highest-quality work has come from the women artists—who, unsurprisingly, were treated as afterthoughts while they were actually producing it.

Age of Apocalypse Wolverine with Sasquatch in the background. Very few people as cool as me for owning a Saquatch figure.

Some very random ass Alan Moore related work.

Big ass Absolute Batman #1.

Preorder alert! Love and Rockets still going strong in volume 4. And staying youthful by offering variant cover options.

FOC Alert! We might end up with more Fire & Ice one-shots than actual main series comics.

FOC ALERT. Wow an artgerm cover I like! Psylocke Ninja 1.

Chapel, Spawn's original murderer but later retconned because Liefeld owns Chapel not McFarlane.

Good for him.

Good news for me! Fantagraphics is putting their full editorial and curation powers into Takumigraphics, focusing on Asian (not only manga) comics. We probably won't get the contextual essays we get from Holmberg's stuff, I'm still happy to see the gates opening to get this stuff in my brain.

Movement by New Order sounds a lot like Joy Division, which I'm happy about, because I've become a Joy Division stan over the last couple of years. I know New Order starts moving away from the gothiness of JD later on, but this was a good intro when I'm ready to expand into their catalog. 7/10

I just finished "I Wish I Was Stupid" by Ebisu Yoshikazu. I'm also knee-deep in reading the Divine Comedy and deserve punishment from multiple circles of hell after reading this: so you should read it too.

Aesop Rock drops a new album before I had time to fully digest his May release. Too much content man.

A great comics magazine's new issue hot off the presses. This about as expressive as things get. Disappointed to read this might be the last issue.

Might have to increase the yearly page target for Ram V books. I haven't read a ton of the DC hero stuff outside of the first couple trades of Batman and Swamp Thing.

I complain about the abundance of horror in comic books today, but there are a few horror genre items I want on the To Read pile. Rodney Barnes' work is a significant amount of those items.

His new book Crownsville sounds diabolical.

Cool to see my library catalogs Joe Sacco's Paying the Land with other non-fiction and not buried away with the graphic novels.

Roadrunner in the middle of the city. Couldn't get close enough because he was too fast. #birds #birding

To the Sea by Mukoubi Aoi, published by Glacier Bay. So much Japanese material (especially in the doujin/gekiga) is written with a light and dreamy touch but can then go dark so quick -- then right back to light and dreamy. #currentlyreading

Occasionally, the hype is real, and that's the case with the new Clipse album. There's some great stuff in here. I hope to see them in a couple of weeks along with Earthgang.

Finally, I can get back to all the satanic metal and violent hip hop polite society has no idea passes through my ears all day.
