We’re already well into 2025, and it has been a huge start to the year for Mastodon. We want to bring you an overdue update on exactly what we’re working on, from a strategic perspective. _Mastodon’s mission is to ensure that our online social spaces belong to the people forever, and provide a safe place for public discourse._ In February, a few members of the team met in person to discuss next steps. Here are the three priorities we set for this year.

We've released the second beta of #Mastodon 4.4 - including some UI fine tuning and new updates, additional integration for Fediverse Auxiliary Service Providers, and more progress on support for incoming quote posts. Flipboard is beginning to federate publisher accounts in France, Italy, and Spain, while also expanding federation in Brazil, Germany, and the U.K. — making quality journalism even more accessible across the fediverse.
