It looks like the cuts focus on Special Ed teacher-preparation programs. At a time when we struggle to adequately staff SPED classrooms, the Trump administration is slashing millions from grants that helped train more SPED teachers, because they think it’s DEI somehow.

One of the things I have to do as an educator is provide a safe environment for my students. If they don’t feel safe, they aren’t going to learn. How do I do that now? How can they feel safe when nowhere is safe?

My district is closed for weather today, but I’m thinking about how it feels like we’re going back to school in a different world, and yet I know how incredibly normal tomorrow is likely to feel. It’s like waiting for the other shoe to drop, but being too busy to really think about it.
