I wouldn't be so quick to rule out F-35. About the same price per unit (although yes higher operating costs) but much more capable and production rate at suitable level to fulfil new orders. Only around 30 Grippens made per year currently

Scotland finished lower than England in the 6N table in 3/4 6 nations since last tour.

I don't think on results alone we can call England and absolute worst team in that period.
