There’s a lot of map space & some intricacy. Mostly abstract nature of “win over hearts & minds, occasionally by force”, and considering what 3 other factions may do leaves a wide open decision-space. committing to an idea without getting paralyzed is important for flow, but it can move quickly!

It follows the COIN series format, so each faction has unique goal & action sets; common comparison is “Root is a COIN-lite,” if that helps. each turn a card is flipped, first faction can choose the card or action, which limits what 2nd faction can pick.

I also love the factions in this game. There’s Mars Government & The Corporations, mostly aligned but jockeying stability vs profiteering.
Red Dust just want “Mars For The Martians,” very Che.
Church of the Reclaimer are weird; playing by different rules. Very Fremen, “degrowth & adapt, or die.”

I “watch” so little video that I’m not saturated yet! I treat most vlogging as audio only, either in my ears on a walk or in the background as I’m working on something else. So I love when the host’s voice carries the message - and I’m fine if it’s paired with overhead cam or PDF picture-in-picture

I just barely made it through Only Revolutions, and passed on The Familiar “until it’s nearly done” (see also: Aesop Rock - Pigeonometry). But maybe it’s time to try MZD again? I’d love to find out that HoL wasn’t a fluke lightning strike!

I revived a positively ancient laptop for kiddo using Linux Mint. It’s definitely a journey!
