I agree with the sentiment, but this site probably isn't the way to do it. They explicitly state they want human-made work labeled as such to keep AI training data from being contaminated by AI slop, and are themselves pro-AI.
A chart about how AI trained on AI gets worse. It's labeled, "The chart represents a scenario in which humans stop generating new content and AI reuses pre-existing content to produce content that lacks originality." It is worth mentioning that AI technologies mark a major milestone in the history of technology and the Not By AI badge is not designed to discourage the use of AI. Instead, it is to make sure that, while we celebrate the achievement, we work with AI instead of being replaced by AI.

I wrote this back in early 2023, and I think I was, largely, prescient, with the exception that I underestimated just how many white Jews (and Jewish institutions) would gleefully fall in with the fascists after October 7th.
The election of Donald Trump and the rise of the alt-right signified a radical shift in antisemitism — away from assimilationism, and towards segregationism. And here’s the part where I get to talk about conditional whiteness! See, a few years ago, there was this trend in online Jewish spaces to start using the term “white-passing”, as an attempt to absolve White Jews of whiteness. The White Jews pushing it claimed that if they publicly identified themselves as Jews, the antisemitism they would face would be analogous to antiblack racism. This was, of course, nonsense. Antisemitism works very differently from other forms of racism in a way where “passing” doesn’t really apply, and the people of colour who actually coined the term “white-passing” quickly called this out. What fits this tense history much better is the term “conditional whiteness”. When White Jews publicly identify as Jewish, they’re still not harassed by police officers, or denied life-saving medical care. Their white privilege isn’t that shaky anymore, not with assimilationist antisemitism as the dominant mode. Rather, what their whiteness is conditioned on isn’t their Jewishness, but on their allegiance to the white power structure, and on that white power structure’s commitment to assimilationism. It’s why so many White Jews are liberals and centrists. In a liberal system of white hegemony, their whiteness goes unquestioned, but in an antiracist system that deconstructs whiteness, White Jews are called to account for their white privilege — and so, they have a strong incentive to turn away from identity politics and intersectionality. On the other side, in an authoritarian system of white supremacy, assimilationism is discarded, and segregationism strips White Jews of their whiteness — when Donald Trump won the presidency, antisemitic hate crimes skyrocketed, the single deadliest antisemitic attack on American Jews in history happened in 2018, and Jewish whiteness became very fragile. Horseshoe theory may be bullshit, but for White Jews, it is very persuasive bullshit, because if the needle moves too far left or right, then one way or another, they lose their white privilege. Let me be clear. Any attempt by White Jews to divest ourselves from whiteness that doesn’t take ownership of and deconstruct said whiteness is going to fail. It doesn’t matter how much emphasis on Jewish culture or religion we stress, or how many Y-STR markers we find in a genome shared by Kohanim. Whiteness isn’t about culture or genetics, it’s a political category. The way I see it, we have two options. We could sit around and pretend the mayonnaise isn’t there, even as it does extensive harm to people of colour, and especially Jews of colour, and as it hinders our ability to effectively fight fascism, then act shocked when the leopards eat our faces, and people like Nick fucking Fuentes move more and more into the open.

This is EXACTLY what happened to me. I feared that Zionism was all my Jewishness was. But it was in opposing Zionism that I found my deeper commitment to being Jewish in every way that mattered.
That's the core here. Hurwitz cannot cope with a younger generation of Jews recognizing the obscenity in what her Zionism has convinced her is justifiable. It is the same animating spirit as Rabbi and former IDF tank commander Ammiel Hirsch's appalling "We wanted you to be Zionists" sermon condemning Jewish youth. Like Hirsch, it is unbearable to Hurwitz that more and more people, and especially her people, see villainy in what she has always understood as heroism. She must un-Jew us to spare herself the implications. And here's the thing: I recognize that. My Jewish education—and indeed my Holocaust education—made me into a Zionist once, too. That was its purpose. I performed the same mental and moral contortions to explain away the crimes of the State of Israel. While I didn't understand it in this way at the time, later I had the clarity to understand that I feared if I stopped, there would be nothing left of my Judaism, nothing important, not in the historical sense. But that only revealed to me, in time, how little I understood of the righteousness of what Hurwitz dismisses as "certain prophetic values." Zionism stopped me from understanding those values and their instructions. Zionism stood in the way of my Judaism, to say nothing of my humanity. It is by no means the worst crime of Zionism. But it is an enabling crime. Sarah, you are right about one thing. You and I are part of a family. We are both the children of Israel. (For the gentiles: this does not mean the State of Israel, it refers to the global Jewish community.) And I say to you in that spirit that you should sit with those feelings of horror at being perceived as the obscene one. It is your path, and not only yours, out of the abyss.

This article's made me emotional in so many ways. Here's some highlights.
What Hurwitz objects to is that Holocaust education works. She is not upset that TikTok is driving misperceptions of the genocide. She is upset that the various social media vectors through which people hear directly from Palestinians drive accurate perceptions of the genocide. She is upset that those perceptions are unavoidable because of Holocaust education. Fearful of activating antisemitism, she doesn't want Israelis, or any Jews, to be thought of as rapacious murderers. I sympathize. But the only way that will happen is for Israel, whose flag displays the Star of David, to stop murdering Palestinians (and Lebanese, and Syrians, and Iranians, and Yemenis, and and and), and for Jewish institutions beyond Israel to stop rationalizing it.

In the first statement which the representative of Israel made before the United Nations after her admission to that international organization, he clearly stated, without any reservation, that the State of Israel represents and speaks only on behalf of its own citizens, and in no way presumes to represent or speak in the name of the Jews who are citizens of any other country. We, the people of Israel, have no desire and no intention to interfere in any way with the internal affairs of Jewish communities abroad.

Fascism preys on fear as a recruiting base; it validates people's fears about the Other, and directs them to extreme action to "protect themselves" from this fear - and phantasms are an incredibly useful tool in the fascist arsenal, to the point that I think there's a case to be made that fascism is a phantasm unto itself: the "as if" feeling of fear of the Other becomes the "like so" of actually being in danger from the Other. The Jewish community writ large is incredibly traumatized and fearful of goyim, but because we're the perennial Other of white fascism, it's very rare for us to be targeted for recruitment by it. Zionism, on the other hand, channels that traumatized Jewish fear of goyim, legitimate or no, and displaces it onto the Palestinians. The "as if" feeling that we are at existential threat from goyim becomes a "like so" of actual existential threat from Palestinians, when in reality that's simply not the case. (All of this is very convenient, of course, for the fascists in the Israeli government, who use that fear as carte blanche to commit genocide and war crimes.)
