Dear Diary, It’s been a few days. Christmas can cause some severe stress and anxiety. Ending the year shortly and I feel next year won’t be much better for mental health or financially. We will work through it though.

Dear Diary, Christmas Eve is upon us and so begins the work. Work to cook, to clean, to travel, to visit, to be happy, to stay awake. Overall it’s a good day and will be a good time, I just know any holiday we encounter requires work. Always.

Dear Diary, Today is, in the words of Phoebe Buffet, “Merry Christmas Eve’s Eve!” I’m reminded of yet another year of inability to provide what I want to. The gifts galore, the surprise, the presents, the perceived value. I’m just dealing with costly things right now, and seemingly every year.

Dear Diary, The shortest day of the year is coming to a close. Winter solstice, 12/21/24… only 9hrs 50mins of daylight today. Hardly time to do anything meaningful outside, mind you it was in the 40°’s during peak hours and 20°’s during the dark. Brrr… sleep well and bundle up.

Dear Diary, Needed this I guess. I’ve never tried Brother’s Bond whiskey until today and let me just say - I didn’t know what I was missing. This is the smoothest I’ve laid lips on. Geez. Tasting it straight as a sipper is best.

Dear Diary, 2024 can stop throwing punches. I’m done. Not only did I get the news that our back bathroom is a gut job because of water leaks and a pipe is busted under the house but now the car is out of commission for a coolant explosion. I’m done. This is enough, universe. I can only take so much.

Dear Diary, Southern Charm is a fantastic reality tv show. Sad to know we haven’t met anyone or been on the show and we are there during filming, know their local spots, and live within arm’s reach.

Dear Diary, Found a car I really like and really want yesterday evening. My biggest dilemma: should I jump into the purchase now or wait months on-end for the hopeful assumption the right vehicle will cross my path again? It’s rare to find the right one at the right price. Probably gonna wait :/

Dear Diary, Day five with neck pain. Severity has diminished because of medication. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Had lunch with the team for their ‘going away’ since three members are leaving us this week. Good luck to you!

Dear Diary, Monday is upon us and the neck pain continues. Called into the doctor for relief. I hope I can get something to manage the pain, release the muscle. Headlight is out on the BMW again. I think I have a spare. Mexican food at lunch with our co-op and vacation starts tomorrow!

Dear Diary, We had a family night last night. Christmas dinner and gathering of the extended family. It’s nice to be with everyone. Laugh, cut up, tell stories, look at pictures, and just talk. I like that kind of thing. No matter if we are blocked online, we can still be nice in person.

Dear Diary, My day off has been spent working. Working on cleaning out the Mustang, getting oil changes for it and the BMW, picking up groceries, and later will be cleaning the kitchen. The joys of adulthood.

Dear Diary, Make my neck quit hurting. I must’ve slept on it wrong yesterday because as the day progressed, the pain kept getting worse. Now it’s stiff. I’m sure there’s a joke for this but the pain is too much to laugh about so no.

Dear Diary, I finally slept good. Slept most of the night and didn’t even hear my first alarm. Luckily, I’m a redundant person who sets seven alarms every morning as backups. Let’s start the last full day before Christmas break. It’s going to be busy.

Dear Diary, Christmas Grazing at work today. Slept like crap last night resulting in a huge push to get things ready early. Such a jam-packed day but success nonetheless. Extremely tired and sleepy; I’m thinking I will hit the bed early.

Dear Diary, I sometimes have the weirdest dreams about things and sometimes I don’t have dreams at all. Seems like my sleep would be consistent and I’d at least have one dream every night no matter the content. I swear I used to dream more.

Dear Diary, What makes a deep friendship? Is it someone who connects with you on an emotional level or someone who connects with you on a core ‘I was raised that way’ level? It’s weird when you find someone you’re connected to. Friendships are weird in general. I love it.

Dear Diary, I dislike the news from yesterday - ‘TikTok ban to proceed’. I truly hope this doesn’t happen. I find the app to be very useful and informative. I see/hear news through that app much quicker and unbiased compared to regular (corporately-owned) sources. Free speech will prevail.
