I’d bet the answer is yes. I know that the US military base in the Marshall Islands uses the 805 zip code (typically reserved for the California central coast), and the logic of IPs feels like it should behave similarly.

Trust me, I’ve only been confidently wrong about two major elections in the past decade.

Nah he’s going to win and it’s not going to be close. I’ll leave this up no matter what so you can dunk on me forever if I’m wrong, but I won’t be wrong.

Coast Guard Island is in Alameda, though. Accessible only from Oakland but it’s in Alameda

I know this isn’t the same, but in 1926 the mint issued a half dollar with then-President Calvin Coolidge on it. It seems like the mint didn’t check the laws on point, and didn’t know it was illegal.

The days of “Oops! We broke the law!” are just so quaint now.

Is that essentially what I’m doing when I throw markdown files into a repo and tell Claude Code to check them out?

And it meant so much to me! It was such a nice moment.

The other day I was taking an *important meeting* when my toddler woke up early from her nap, suddenly sick and cranky. I kept the meeting with her on my lap, but she wasn’t having it. The *important serious person* pulled out a stuffed Alpaca, asking my daughter to help give it a name.

What exactly do you mean when you put affordability in quotation marks? Are you saying that the average house isn’t less affordable, that it’s a transient phenomenon that’s declining due to demographic and construction trends, or that the actual value is higher now? You seem to be conflating them.

If the average home were newly built, you’d have a decent case. A house built today includes systems not found in older houses, and is safer and larger. But housing affordability has fallen most in areas with the oldest housing stock!

Housing is not like healthcare. With healthcare, rising quality and specialization leads to increased costs. Housing inflation is not tied to modern standards — my 110 year old sub-900 sq ft house cost over $1m, not because of rising standards but due to artificially constrained supply.

Camarillo, CA - Protesters on this end are backing away from border patrol agents and are now a few hundred feet away. Overheard a member of border patrol stating they would remain until the protesters do then will leave the area.

The bench was likely in a hot dry place and the boards weren’t fully dried, so the top dried and shrank, causing this warping. You can remove the boards, flip, and reattach so the other side dries out. Not a quick fix and won’t be perfectly flat, but it’s common for unseasoned wood in hot places.
